Sellers Energy Audit

Starting June 1st 2009, the city of Austin is requiring that all non-exempt homes in austin receive and energy audit before a home is sold. This is only to disclose the condition of the home in regards to energy efficiency to potential home buyers. The home owner is solely responsible for seeing that this audit is completed before their home is sold. There are no mandatory upgrades required under this ordinance.

We are committed to making your audit a simple and informative process. We have been testing homes for years and are not one of the many start-up companies jumping into this business to capitalize on this new requirement. We are also a completely independent 3rd party inspector and not a contractor looking to make a sale in upgrading your home.

Your Home is exempt if (short list):

  • You are not an Austin Energy customer
  • You do not have and Austin address
  • Your home is less than 10 years old by the date of the sales contract.
  • You have participated in the Austin Energy home performance with energy star program and received rebates for three or more measures or a rebate in the amount of $500 or more in the past 10 years.
    * Please see the official ordinance for a complete list of exemptions
